Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get a UK student visa?
The UK student visa (Student Route) typically takes 3-6 weeks to process when applying from outside the UK. You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts. We recommend applying as early as possible to avoid delays.
Can I work while studying in the UK?
Yes, international students on a Student Route visa can typically work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays. However, the exact conditions depend on your university level and visa restrictions.
What is the difference between tuition fees for UK/EU and international students?
UK/EU students generally pay lower tuition fees (around £9,250 for undergraduate programs), while international students pay higher fees (£15,000-£40,000+ depending on the course and university). Post-Brexit, EU students are now classified as international students.
Do I need to take IELTS if English is my first language?
If you’re from a majority English-speaking country (like US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand), you may be exempt from English language tests. However, requirements vary by university, so check with your chosen institution.
Can I stay in the UK after graduation?
Yes, the Graduate Route allows international students to stay and work in the UK for 2 years after completing an undergraduate or master’s degree, or 3 years after completing a PhD. You can then apply for other visa routes.
